Andre Iguodala believes Jayson Tatum and Devin Booker will compete for NBA MVP

The 2023-24 season is finally underway, which will see a number of players make a strong push toward securing the regular-season MVP award. Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid may sit as the early favorite. However, recently retired forward Andre Iguodala voiced that he believes Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum and Phoenix Suns Devin Booker could make serious pushes toward earning the prestigious honor.

“JT and DBook look like they got something to say about all this MVP talk,” Andre Iguodala posted on Twitter/X.

Booker and Tatum could each make strong runs toward garnering the reward for the first time in their respective careers. Over the last few years, Tatum has routinely been in the MVP conversation. Although he hasn’t taken that next leap toward becoming a finalist for the honor.

The Celtics’ forward may have his day this year after the front office further bolstered the roster around him. The additions Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday over the offseason will likely boost his game.

The more balanced roster around him could give him the chance to make a more significant impact offensively in years past.

Meanwhile, Booker is sitting in a similar situation after the Suns underwent much roster change over the summer. The addition of fellow All-Star guard Bradley Beal to pair alongside him and Kevin Durant could be what elevates Phoenix back into the NBA title contender picture.

Beal and Durant’s presence could allow Booker to become a more efficient and productive offensive factor. The path is there for him to push his way toward serious MVP consideration if Phoenix can become among the league’s best teams.
