Anthony Davis’ Desire To Stay, Win With Pelicans Hasn’t Wavered
Anthony Davis is without a doubt one of the most talented players in the NBA today. Davis has shown a versatile skill set that is truly amazing with the ability to fill up the stat sheet across the board.
Although Davis is one of the NBA’s unstoppable forces on the basketball floor, the New Orleans Pelicans far from that status as a team. New Orleans is currently one of the worst teams in the league with a 5-10 record as of Wednesday night.
Despite the lowly Pelicans trying to figure things out, Davis’ desire to stay in New Orleans and fight through their struggles hasn’t wavered, via Shams Charania of The Vertical:
“My desire to win here is the same,†Davis told The Vertical. “I go out there and play. I don’t care what the record is. I just go out there and play. I have to lead this team and make sure my guys are always happy and high energy. I don’t care what people say about our team. They’re not in our locker room seeing us, not part of our group. That’s all white noise.”
With the Pelicans being as bad as they have been to start the 2016-17 NBA season, many have begun to wonder whether Davis may be thinking about demanding a trade. New Orleans has recently shown signs of life with three straight wins, but it remains to be seen if the team can stay consistent over the course of the season.
As the season presses on and nears the NBA trade deadline in February, it’ll be interesting to see if Davis’ stance chances. If the Pelicans continue to struggle with no real hope for the immediate future, Davis may press the issue, or maybe the team’s front office starts thinking about a trade to get assets in return.
