Celtics star Kyrie Irving is dealing with shoulder injury

The Boston Celtics have begun hitting their stride over the last several days, having won their last four straight games.

Boston grabbed their fourth straight win after toppling the New York Knicks 128-100. However, that came at a bit of a cost with All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving suffering a shoulder injury. Following the game, Irving voiced that he believes that he will be fine moving forward from the play, according to Tim Bontemps of ESPN.

“It was just a weird play at the end of the game,” Irving said. “I don’t know. It’s like I got caught up as I was trying to get the ball out and pass it to Marcus for a 3. It just caught me weird on my shoulder. So it’s probably an AC joint or something like that. I’m not diagnosing myself, I’m pretty sure. I saw the doctors afterward and they said AC joint or something going on there, but I’ll be all right.”

Although Irving stated that he will be fine, it’s something that the team will monitor closely moving forward. This is something that the team will continue to monitor closely. Especially given that he has had a long history of dealing with injuries.

If there was any telling sign about his current health status, it was that he wasn’t placed on the injury report on Friday. What may likely be the case is that Irving is dealing with soreness in his shoulder caused by the play over the next several days.

He is currently averaging a team-best 22.2 points along with 6.4 assists and 4.7 rebounds per contest.
