Clippers may be interested in trading for Bulls’ Thaddeus Young

The L.A. Clippers have taken strides towards meeting those lofty expectations that were put ahead of them over the offseason.

There have been some bumps along the way that have shown that the team needs added firepower to separate themselves in the Western Conference. According to Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times, many around the league believe the Clippers are going to be aggressive in adding more pieces to the puzzle that could begin with Thaddeus Young.

Though it is too soon to know whether the Clippers truly have trade intentions, they are sniffing around. NBA sources not authorized to speak publicly believe the Clippers are looking at players like Chicago power forward Thaddeus Young…

Rival executives believe the Clippers could be on the hunt for another physical center — a potential Finals matchup with Milwaukee or Philadelphia would demand more size — or another playmaking guard.

The Clippers have two of the league’s best forwards in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George leading the charge, but their frontcourt depth hasn’t been the greatest beyond them. Young would add a proven player to the mix that has been a constant factor on both ends of the floor throughout his career.

That would require the Clippers to sacrifice some talent to make that addition, which could see Moe Harkless draw plenty of interest in a trade. Given the long-term outlook for the franchise, the team would more than bite the bullet to add a potential x-factor in the frontcourt to help boost their chances of competing for an NBA title.
