Damian Lillard inks two-year extension worth $122M
As the NBA moves through the offseason, many high-profile players are making key decisions pertaining to their long-term future. Portland Trail Blazers star point guard Damian Lillard made a swift choice to ink a two-year extension. His new deal with the franchise is worth $122 million.
The six-time All-Star is now inked through the next five seasons. His deal runs through the 2026-27 campaign, where he will be 36 years old. He was previously signed through the 2024-25 season.

The new deal further doubles down that the star point guard is sticking to his stance that he wants to remain with the Trail Blazers. In recent years, the outside noise has grown louder for him to explore the opportunity to play with another franchise to compete for an NBA title.
Lillard has instead stayed unwaveringly committed to Portland despite the organization failing to build a championship contender around him. He has been one of the league’s top players but lacks any consistent playoff success.
He has reached the Western Conference Finals once in eight playoff appearances. That includes five first-round playoff exits, while Portland is coming off missing the playoffs entirely in head coach Chauncey Billups’ first year.

Damian Lillard missed most of the 2021-22 season due to an abdominal injury that required surgery. The Blazers’ significant contractual commitment to the 31-year-old shows tremendous faith in his ability to lead the franchise to sustained success well into his 30s.
With Lillard in the fold for the foreseeable future, the Blazers are tasked with building a formidable roster around him.
