Giannis Antetokounmpo makes revealing comments on Bucks’ future

As the 2025-26 regular season inches closer, two-time league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo reiterated his commitment to the Milwaukee Bucks.

However, Antetokounmpo added a caveat that he could change his mind down the road.

“I’ve said this many times: I want to be in a situation that I can win,” Antetokounmpo said via ESPN. “I believe in this team. I believe in my teammates. I’m here to lead this team to wherever we can go. It’s definitely going to be hard. We’re going to take it day by day, but I’m here. So all the extra stuff does not matter.

“I’ve communicated with my teammates, communicated with the people I respect and love, that the moment I step on this court or in this facility, I wear this jersey, the rest does not matter. I’m locked into whatever I have in front of me. Now, if in six, seven months I change my mind, I think that’s human, too.”

After the Bucks ended last season with another disappointing playoff exit, Antetokounmpo stirred the pot that he could consider playing elsewhere. The chatter didn’t progress past that, but it marked the first time that he openly thought about leaving the Bucks.

Since then, the Bucks have undergone several significant roster changes, including parting ways with star point guard Damian Lillard, letting Brook Lopez walk in free agency, and signing Myles Turner.

The Bucks hold tremendous pressure to prove to their franchise cornerstone that they can still compete for an NBA title. If not, things could look much different in Milwaukee quite soon.
