Grizzlies trade Jay Huff to Pacers, Sign Jock Landale

The Memphis Grizzlies are coming off a disappointing 2024-25 campaign, where not much went right for the franchise. As a result of the team’s disappointing performance last season, Memphis has made some moves during this NBA offseason to help right the ship.

Recently, the Grizzlies made a somewhat shocking move by trading guard Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic. The team brought in a boatload of draft assets, making the move potentially brilliant in the long term for Memphis.

On Saturday, the team made another unexpected move by trading big man Jay Huff to the Indiana Pacers, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.

The Memphis Grizzlies are trading center Jay Huff to the Indiana Pacers for one second-round pick and one second-round pick swap, sources told ESPN on Saturday.

The Pacers needed to fill the void left by Myles Turner, who decided to sign with the Milwaukee Bucks in NBA free agency. As for Memphis, the Grizzlies acted quickly and brought in Jock Landale to replace Huff.

In a related move, free agent center Jock Landale has agreed to a deal with the Grizzlies, sources said. Landale solidifies the Grizzlies’ frontcourt after the trade of Huff as the team and his agent, Sammy Wloszczowski of SIG Sports, reach terms.

Although these aren’t blockbuster moves by any means, they do address an area of need for the Pacers. At the same time, the Grizzlies seem to be a team trying to figure things out and attempting to stay competitive in a Western Conference that is growing increasingly tougher to navigate with every passing day.
