Heat express interest in landing Spurs’ LaMarcus Aldridge

The Miami Heat did not have the best first half of the 2020-21 NBA season. The defending Eastern Conference champions dealt with injuries and COVID-19 issues. As well as that, it dealt with frankly bad play after being so impressive in the NBA playoffs last year.

Now it seems that Pat Riley is ready to right the ship for the second half of the season. He will be aggressive ahead of the NBA trade deadline on March 25 as a result. Miami has been linked to a number of players already. Now there’s another one in LaMarcus Aldridge of the San Antonio Spurs.

And the Miami Heat is among the teams that has spoken to the Spurs about an Aldridge trade, according to a league source.

Although Aldridge isn’t the dominant force he once was with the Portland Trail Blazers, the savvy veteran can still be a formidable player inside and outside the paint. Aldridge has developed an outside shot to adapt to the evolution of the game while remaining relevant.
