Utah Jazz Get Devastating News on Jaren Jackson Jr. Amid Rough Start

The Utah Jazz suffered a significant blow to their frontcourt with star big man Jaren Jackson Jr. set to miss six to eight weeks due to a torn MCL in his right knee.

Jackson suffered the injury in Monday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies after guard Ty Jerome fell into him and caused his knee to buckle awkwardly.

The All-Star big man has struggled to stay on the court since joining the Jazz last year, as he only played three games last season before undergoing surgery to remove a noncancerous growth in his left knee.

Utah had acquired him in exchange for three first-round selections with the hope he could become a key piece to the franchise’s future. Instead, he has had difficulty staying on the floor in his brief tenure.

In three games played, he is averaging 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while shooting 50 percent from the floor and 35.7 percent from beyond the arc. He is in the first year of his four-year, $205 million extension.

Jackson’s absence puts an even greater frontcourt void, as the Jazz are already dealing with big man Jusuf Nurkic being out due to a partial plantar plate tear of the second toe in his right foot. Nurkic is expected to be reevaluated in Early November.

Former All-Star forward Lauri Markkanen is dealing with a wrist injury that has given him a day-to-day status. The Jazz have limped through the first couple of weeks of the season, holding a 1-4 record and losing their last three straight games.
