Joel Embiid posts triple-double for 76ers in return
Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid shined his return after missing a month by posting a triple-double effort in the win over the Dallas Mavericks.
Embiid is working through an injury-riddle campaign that has seen him miss significant time due to persistent knee and foot problems. However, the former league MVP voiced optimism that he can finally move past those issues.
“You just got to try to find the positives, but it’s tough,” Embiid via ESPN. “So, trying to manage it, trying to find a solution, and it just keeps happening.
“So, hopefully this time around is for good. I feel pretty good, but it can be unpredictable. … I haven’t really had time to really recover, so until I get that time, it could be like that. So just got to keep going, do the right things, take care of yourself and hope for the best.”
It’s been nothing short of a battle for Embiid to get back onto the court, as his return marked exactly a month since his last appearance on Jan. 4. He had sat out 15 straight games due to a foot sprain and knee swelling.

Although Embiid is back in the mix, the 76ers will likely continue to take the precautionary route. His long line of prominent injury problems should result in Philadelphia progressively easing into more consistent workloads.
The 76ers, currently ranked 11th in the Eastern Conference standings, face an uphill battle to get into playoff contention.
