Karl-Anthony Towns Makes Troubling Statement About Knicks Future

As the start of the 2026-27 season inches closer, New York Knicks star big man Karl-Anthony Towns remains without an extension.

Towns is eligible to receive a four-year deal worth over $276 million. He is scheduled to make $57 million this season and holds a $61.1 million player option for the 2027-28 campaign.

The All-Star big man voiced that he isn’t too confident in things panning out how he hopes with New York.

“It don’t look good,” Karl-Anthony Towns said via ESPN.

Towns remains the last of the core group without a long-term deal, creating uncertainty about his future with the Knicks.

He has more than earned his keep as a foundational piece with New York, especially after helping guide the franchise to its first NBA title in more than five decades. In the Knicks’ playoff run to a championship, he averaged 15.9 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists.

“Simply put, I want to do something that can keep the team together and work with the Knicks and also values me,” Towns said. “None of those things have come close to happening.”

Towns has more than proven his worth to the franchise since the Knicks acquired him in a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Since the move, Towns has quickly asserted himself as a key core piece to the team’s success. His ability to not only be a centerpiece offensively, but also an anchor point for the Knicks should be more than enough to earn him a lucrative deal with New York.
