Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Identifies Biggest Challenge Facing New-Look 76ers

As the Philadelphia 76ers prepare for the upcoming season, all eyes will be on the revamped roster that holds lofty championship expectations.

There are several new faces, topped by four-time league MVP LeBron James, joining the fray, which has elevated the scrutiny around the franchise.

Fellow offseason addition Kentavious Caldwell-Pope pinpointed that the team’s chemistry will be the key to their success.

“Our chemistry is gonna be the biggest part for us,” Caldwell-Pope said Monday via ESPN. “Us liking each other, being able to be around each other and have fun on and off the court.”

With any team, the chemistry among the roster and coaching staff is crucial to sustained success, but this is further amplified by the level of talent and expectations in Philadelphia.

There is no question that it is championship or bust for the 76ers, which places a heightened importance on them to develop a strong bond and chemistry on and off the court.

There will need to be a team identity that is formed and found with their superstar-headlined roster with James, Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey, and second-year guard V.J. Edgecombe.

It will require a collective sacrifice, with some more than others, for them to gel on the court together, especially with so many ball-dominant players on the roster.

James has already been identified as the primary ball handler, while Embiid and Brown figure to be the go-to scoring options. Meanwhile, Maxey will also shoulder some of the ball-handling and a sizable scoring role.

Time will tell what will unfold in Philadelphia, but it’s clear that building strong team chemistry is high on the list of priorities.
