Kevin Durant Draws Eye-Opening Comparison to LeBron James’ 76ers Move

Since LeBron James chose to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers, there has been plenty of discourse around the decision.

Much of which has heightened chatter about James joining a star-studded lineup, bringing forth strong opinions.

Houston Rockets star forward Kevin Durant is the latest to chime in on the move, referencing his infamous decision to join the Golden State Warriors that caught plenty of flak from the media and around the league.

“The last time they put three 20-point scorers on a team, they said it was unfair, which was the [Warriors] team I was on,” Durant said at a USA Basketball event Saturday via ESPN. “[The 76ers] have got four 25-point scorers on this team. So, hell yeah, I think they’re going to be a contender. They’re going to be a fun team to watch. It’s going to be League Pass-worthy.”

When Durant joined the Warriors in free agency, it immediately led to a whirlwind of criticism directed at him for joining an already talented roster led by their three All-Stars in Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, who were coming off a 73-win regular season and an NBA Finals appearance.

Meanwhile, James is joining a 76ers team that features three other All-Stars in Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and fellow offseason addition Jaylen Brown. Philadelphia has immediately jumped into the mix as the biggest challenger in the Eastern Conference to the defending champion New York Knicks.

As Durant pointed out, it all sets up what should be some must-see TV anytime the 76ers are on the court.
