Knee concerns continue for 76ers superstar Joel Embiid

Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid’s injury-embattled campaign took another discouraging turn as he missed Monday’s game after undergoing imaging on his troublesome left knee.

“He did have some testing earlier today, which ruled him out for tonight’s game,” Nurse said during his pregame media availability on Monday via ESPN. “There’s still further testing tonight even yet today and continuing tomorrow, and that’s where we are.”

Although Embiid has struggled to stay on the court, the 76ers are unwilling to rule him out for the rest of the year. He has struggled to get past ailing issues with his left knee all season long, along with significant portions of last year, after Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga accidentally landed on it on Jan. 30, 2024.

Even when Embiid has been on the court, he hasn’t looked like himself. He is averaging 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists but is shooting career lows with 44.4 percent from the floor and 29.9 percent from beyond the arc.

His difficulty staying healthy has only compounded the 76ers’ overall struggles. Offseason big-splash addition star forward Paul George has been lackluster at best with his production while he has had stints missing games due to injuries.

George recently admitted that he is getting injections to deal with his own health problems, but that doesn’t blanket his overall performance struggles.

The 76ers sit in a bind of being on the outskirts of playoff contention while potentially contemplating a future ahead without Embiid if his injury issues worsen.
