Knicks looking to make ‘big swings’ in the NBA trade market
The Knicks have finally ended their playoff drought with a legitimate star leading the way in forward Julius Randle. As well as that, they have an inspiring head coach on the sideline in Tom Thibodeau.
The most valuable NBA franchise took giant strides forward this season and could make some noise in the playoffs. However, they are still arguably a few pieces away from being a legitimate title contender. That will be something that is addressed by the storied franchise this summer on the NBA trade market, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, via Bleacher Report.

On Tuesday’s episode of The Woj Pod (beginning at the 38:20 mark), ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski said the Knicks are on “disgruntled star alert,” meaning they could be a landing spot for a star player who demands at trade during the offseason.
Wojnarowski noted that while he isn’t sure the Knicks will do much in free agency, he expects them to take some “big swings in the trade market.”

One of the Knicks’ main targets on the trade market could be Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers. If the Blazers fail to live up to expectations in the playoffs, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that the team explores the trade market in an effort to rebuild.
Lillard has been one of the brightest young stars in the game for a few years now. In spite of this, the Blazers never seem to get over the hump in the playoffs. As a result this could be the year they seriously consider trading their superstar. The Knicks pairing Lillard with Randle would be ideal.
Another option is signing superstar Chris Paul in NBA free agency. Paul has been linked to the Knicks on more than one occasion. He has shown he still has a lot left in the tank. It remains to be seen whether he’s determined to stay with the Phoenix Suns or seriously consider offers from other teams.
