Lakers guard Isaiah Thomas takes a shot at Cavaliers on Jimmy Kimmel Live
Isaiah Thomas was traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Los Angeles Lakers last season. Since then, former All-Star point guard has been subtle with his feelings towards his previous team.Â
With the Cavaliers trailing 2-0 in the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors in the 2018 NBA Finals, Thomas took the opportunity to lay a verbal jab at the Cavaliers, according to ESPN.Â
Los Angeles Lakers guard and soon-to-be free agent Isaiah Thomas needled his former team on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Monday night.
Competing against Detroit Pistons Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas in Kimmel’s NBA edition of “Generation Gap,” the former Cleveland Cavaliers guard said, “I’m like the Cavs, I’m going to get swept.”
There are still some lingering feelings about how things ended with the Cavaliers. Thomas was with the team no more than half a season. He only played 15 games with Cleveland before the front office moved him on.

Thomas had initially hoped he could be the missing piece for the franchise. However, once he was cleared to return to the court, he struggled to truly fit into the fold. Thomas also had some internal conflict that arose during the team’s struggles on the court. This had quickly led to the team unloading him as part of the major roster shuffle ahead of the trade deadline.Â
The 29-year-old is set to enter the open market this upcoming offseason as an unrestricted free agent. There is no clarity regarding how much interest he will draw given that he underwent hip surgery near the tail end of the season to help correct the issue that had come about in last year’s playoffs.
