LeBron James Drops Major Hint About When Free Agency Decision Is Coming

As the offseason moves along, star forward LeBron James remains without a decision on where he will play next season.

The four-time NBA champion made his first public appearance since he informed the Los Angeles Lakers that he would be leaving the franchise through free agency. James said during a live taping of his podcast at Fanatacis Fest, with guest co-host Tyrese Haliburton, on Thursday that he hadn’t made a decision yet.

“We literally talked about this in the back, Rese,” James said via ESPN.

However, James later stated on Thursday at the CNBC and Boardroom Game Plan Summit that his decision wouldn’t be long in coming.

“I won’t hold you guys up too much longer,” he said.

There still remains much uncertainty around what direction James is leaning in his decision, but it’s believed that the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, and Philadelphia 76ers are the likely destinations for the 41-year-old.

Throughout the process, James hasn’t shown any urgency to find his next landing spot, but rather has allowed everything to play out with franchises expressing their interest in him. At the same time, he weighs what will be best for the likely last stop of his illustrious career.

It’s clear James is enjoying the free agency process, which he hasn’t experienced in nearly a decade since he joined the Lakers in 2018. Money reportedly won’t be a factor, while finding a place where he can have the most joy on the courts ranks high on the list for influencing his decision.
