Magic in Free Fall; Face Clippers Tonight

In one of those “something’s gotta give” moments, the Orlando Magic, losers of 21 of 23, face the Los Angeles Clippers, losers of 7 of 9 in the Amway Center. Somebody has to win this game.

The Orlando Magic’s ticket selling slogan this season, after trading Dwight Howard is “We Will”. We Will as is “We Will battle, We Will hustle, We will not quit, We will entertain the fans, etc” For a while it was working. The Magic started the season 12-13 and were really a fairly entertaining bunch. They fought the better teams of this league hard, even winning a few along the way over teams such as the Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors and those hated Los Angeles Lakers. Magic fans were giddy over the team beating Howard and sending him pouting to the locker room.

But in a win over the Washington Wizards to pull the team withing a game of .500, Glen “Big Baby” Davis popped his shoulder out in the last minute of the game. And the free fall started from there. At first the losses were close ones. Overtimes losses to the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls and nail biters to the Utah Jazz and New York Knicks left hope that they could somehow pull it together and hold down the fort until Big Bay’s return. But as losses piled up, it seems frustration and just plain rotten luck have set in, and it appears the Magic have given up. In their last outing, they manged to score only 61 points. OUCH!

The one bright spot in this misery was a win over the once unbeatable Los Angeles Clippers. But the Clippers as a result of that game are very beatable now. Chris Paul was hurt at the end of that one and hasn’t played since excepts for a game and a half. The Clippers have fallen from first to third in the Western Conference and are now losing to sub .500 Eastern Conference teams such as the Toronto Raptors and Washington Wizards.

It seems the Magic not only beat the Clippers, got also rubbed their bad mojo off on them. Injuries continue to plague them as now Blake Griffin has not played in the last game, breaking a 197 game streak and may not play tonight either. But still, there will be a winner tonight. The question is who?

Betonline has the Clippers -5.5 -110 or -240. The Magic is +5.5 -110 or +200. Both of these teams are going so horribly bad it’s a tough one to call, but we’ll take the Clippers -5.5. Over/under is 186. I think we will go with the under -110.
