NBA GMs Make Bold Prediction About Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama

As the NBA prepares for the upcoming season, the annual general manager survey around the league has set forth lofty expectations for Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.

Following a breakout campaign that saw the Spurs win 62 games and reach the NBA Finals, the survey has projected them as championship favorites, while Wembanyama is seen as the frontrunner for the MVP and Defensive Player of the Year awards.

The 22-year-old was chosen as the heavy favorite to earn his first MVP award, garnering 77 percent of the votes, while Denver Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic received 10 percent and Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards earned seven percent.

Wembanyama already has the Defensive Player of the Year in his back pocket, having received the award for the first time this past season. He became the youngest player ever to win the award and the first ever to win the honor unanimously in league history.

He also finished second for the MVP award behind Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who has won the honor the last two straight years.

Through his first three seasons, Wembanyama has quickly emerged as one of the league’s best talents. He is widely regarded as the NBA’s best defensive player for his elite rim protection.
