NBA News: Kevin Durant’s Meeting With Warriors ‘Went Well’
With NBA free agency in full swing, the Kevin Durant sweepstakes begins to heat up. Although the Oklahoma City Thunder are widely considered to be the frontrunner for Durant’s services, the Golden State Warriors are still a legitimate threat.
The Warriors were able to get a face-to-face meeting with Durant on Friday. Golden State had all the right players in the room with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Andre Igoudala helping pitch the one-time NBA MVP.
Apparently, the meeting with Durant went well for Golden State, according to Sam Amick of USA Today:
And now, for the obligatory not-sure-it-means-anything free agency tidbit: I'm told Kevin Durant's meeting with Golden State went very well.

Now that the Warriors were able to sit down with Durant, the sweepstakes continue with other teams lining up. Durant will meet with the Boston Celtics, the Thunder one more time and a final meeting with the Miami Heat. Pat Riley appears to be hoping to make the last pitch to Durant with Hassan Whiteside having agreed to terms and potentially Dwyane Wade back in the fold.
Despite all the suitors and a promising meeting with the Warriors, the consensus remains the same for Durant. Outside of a drastic change of heart, no one sees Durant leaving the Thunder this summer. Next summer there may be a distinct possibility, especially if Oklahoma City fails to win a ring, but right now, Durant is likely staying put.
Kevin Durant leaving Oklahoma City has always seemed doubtful. The perennial All-Star is only gauging interest and potentially setting himself up for another go-round next year.
