NBA News: Warriors’ Draymond Green Suspended For Game 5 Against Cavaliers
After multiple altercations on the court, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green will finally face the consequences of his actions. Green was assessed a flagrant foul 1 by the NBA for his altercation with LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 4 of the NBA Finals and as a result is suspended for Game 5, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN:
Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green is suspended for Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night after he was assessed a flagrant foul 1 by the league for his actions in Game 4.
As expected, Green’s suspension has come with quite a bit of controversy. On multiple occasions throughout the NBA playoffs, the All-Star forward has made questionable and suspension-worthy actions on the basketball floor and now he may miss the Warriors’ championship celebration if Golden State can dispatch LeBron’s Cavaliers on Monday night in Oakland.
Even without Green on the floor for the Warriors in Game 5, Golden State is still favored to get the win over the Cavaliers. The Warriors will be sporting a -5.5 point spread heading into potentially the final game of the 2015-16 NBA season.
Although the Cavaliers aren’t out of the running just yet, it seems as though it may only be a matter of time before the Warriors win a second straight NBA title at the expense of Cleveland. With the exception of Game 3, in which the Cavaliers crushed the Warriors at Quicken Loans Arena, Golden State has been superior in every way shape and form.
Unless the Cavaliers can pull off a comeback in the same way the Warriors did against Kevin Durant’s Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals, LeBron and company will be headed for a second straight NBA Finals appearance with a Larry O’Brien Trophy.
