NBA Southeast: Heat Running Away; Wizards Still Hot

The Miami Heat is walking off and leaving the field in the NBA Southeast Division. No surprise there. Lebron James is dominating the game much the way Michael Jordan once did. Miami has won 12 in a row and looks unstoppable. Look for them to hoist some hardware at the end of the season.

Too bad the Washington Wizards had to start the season with so many of their star players out with injuries. When healthy, this is a pretty good team. The Wizards have climbed to third in the division after getting off to a 2012 Charlotte Bobcats type start. They have won three straight and seven of the last ten.

The Atlanta Hawks are in a tight battle with five teams for the second through sixth spots in the Eastern Conference playoff chase. They have won three in a row and moved into the fifth spot, three games out of the second spot currently held by the Indiana Pacers. They trail the fourth place Brooklyn Nets by a half game. The Nets would be their first round opponent if things stay where they are.

The Orlando Magic got a rare road victory on Tuesday when they downed the Philadelphia 76ers. With some new players, the Magic has looked a bit better since the J. J. Redick trade.

The Charlotte Bobcats got hammered by the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday to fall three games behind the Magic in the quest to escape last place in the division. If they had more head to head games with the Magic they would probably catch them. The Bobcats have won twice at the Amway Center this season.
