Nets’ Bojan Bogdanovic will miss the rest of the season

Brooklyn Nets forward Bojan Bogdanovic will miss the rest of the season after undergoing foot surgery.

Bogdanovic last played with the New York Knicks last season after he was acquired before the trade deadline.

However, he’s been sidelined since suffering a left foot injury during Game 4 of the Knicks’ first-round playoff series against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The 35-year-old underwent surgery on his foot and was dealt to the Nets as part of the trade that landed Mikal Bridges in New York. Since then, he failed to make significant progress toward returning to the court.

Brooklyn released Bogdanovic and signed Killian Hayes to provide more depth. Hayes played with the Detroit Pistons last season, where he was waived last February.

He was in the final year of his two-year, $39 million deal with the Pistons, which he inked in 2022.

Through his first 11 seasons, Bogdanovic is averaging 15.6 points while shooting 46 percent from the floor and 39.4 percent from beyond the arc. Before his brief stint with the Knicks, he excelled as a primary scorer for the Pistons, averaging 21.1 points on 48.1 percent shooting from the floor and 41.3 percent from 3-point range.

If he chooses to extend his career, there should be plenty of suitors looking to add proven shooting and scoring to their frontcourt.

Meanwhile, the Nets are sitting just outside the play-in tournament, trailing the Chicago Bulls by 1.5 games for the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference standings. Brooklyn has won six out of their last 10 contests.
