Shaquille O’Neal says Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo is ‘better’ than he was at the same age

Throughout the last several months, Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal has been quite complimentary of the play of Milwaukee Bucks All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.

This has led to him voicing on a few occasions his admiration for Antetokounmpo’s play on the court. O’Neal took that a step further in his latest episode of “The Big Podcast,” stating that he believes the 24-year-old is better than him at that age, according to ESPN.

“He’s better because he has more opportunity to showcase more,” O’Neal said. “I was a post player, and the only thing I was allowed to showcase was my domination. He’s running the floor. I did that early, [but] I stopped doing that because I stopped getting the ball when I ran the floor, so I turned into a half-court dominant player.”

Granted this isn’t a completely feasible comparison between the two as both played different positions on the floor. Their responsibilities were much different, but they were both highly talented players at that point of their respective careers.

One major difference is that O’Neal had entered the league as a highly-touted prospect. O’Neal immediately made a major impact on the floor while Antetokounmpo has progressively worked his way into this position. At the same time, the fact that the Hall of Famer is voicing this type of praise toward Antetokounmpo only speaks to the tremendous talent that he has.
