Pacers in Danger of Huge First Round Flop

The Indiana Pacers could be in deep trouble

The Indiana Pacers could be in deep trouble

The Indiana Pacers have been a tough team to figure out this season. They go from great to sorry and back seemingly from game to game. So after dropping Game Three to the eighth seeded Atlanta Hawks while mustering a paltry 85 points to go down 2-1 in the series, we can expect them to come out in Game Four and dominate, right?

Well, maybe they will, but there are some disturbing signs right now that point to an early exit. The Pacers are getting little from their center Roy Hibbert on either end of the floor. He has yet to block a shot in the series and on offense he is getting his shot blocked on offense. That is if he can catch the entry pass. He looks like the aliens from Space Jam have invaded his body and stole his talent. Watching him struggle so badly for three games in a row, one has to wonder if he is playing hurt.

Paul George was also shut out in the first half of Game Three and ended up with only 12 points. If the Pacers are going to advance very far in these playoffs, then those two guys have to pick it up.

If the Hawks win this series it would have to go down as one of the NBA’s biggest first round upsets. It would be a big surprise if the Dallas Mavericks were to knock off the San Antonio Spurs in a eight over one shocker. But the Mavs won 49 games this ear. Atlanta was six games under .500 at 38-44. Had Dallas been in the East, they would be the three seed. In the West, the Hawks would have not even  sniffed the playoffs. Yet here they are with a 2-1 lead over the number one seed and there was nothing flukey about either win. But were double figure wins where the Hawks simply beat up on he team that swept them out of last year’s first round.

The Pacers will be at Atlanta for Game Four tomorrow at 2:00.

Sportsbook has the odds on the game. Indiana is -2.5 -110 and the Hawks are +2.5 -110 ATS. Moneyline is Indiana -140 and Atlanta +120. This one really is a tough one to figure just because the Pacers are just so volatile. In their lone win in the series two of the players got into a fight before the game. This reeks of a team that is about to collapse, but if they get their act together they could wipe Atlanta off the floor. We are going to pick the Hawks+140.

If the Hawks continue to play good defense like they have so far n this series, they can and will pull the upset. We believe they will.
