Miami Heat President Pat Riley Drops Offseason Hint

The Miami Heat are coming off one of the most improbable playoff runs in NBA history. Pat Riley’s squad defied the odds from start to finish in the NBA bubble. Now, the savvy front-office exec has to figure out how to keep it all while making the team better.

Among the team’s top priorities are the contract situations for All-Star Bam Adebayo and veteran point guard Goran Dragic and Riley acknowledged that fact in a press conference on Friday, via ESPN.

“We know what our priorities are,” Riley said. “It is to take care of the players that we have, that we have to make decisions on almost immediately. We know Bam has a decision to make and we do with him. We know the guys that have sacrificed for us that we really like, our free agents, especially Goran.”

Both Adebayo and Dragic exceeded expectations during the NBA playoffs and therefore have increased their value moving forward. Although both players were injured in the NBA Finals, they still played exceptionally well and proved to be the backbone of the team along with Jimmy Butler.

Along with taking care of these contract situations, the Miami Heat have been linked to Giannis Antetokoumpo and could make a play for him during this NBA offseason if the Milwaukee Bucks are open to move him before he hits free agency.
