Pat Riley, Heat continue to wait for Dwyane Wade’s decision
Since the end of the 2017-18 season, there has been much uncertainty around former All-Star guard Dwyane Wade’s future in the NBA.
The 36-year-old has remained mum on whether he will continue his career or step away from the game after 15 years. With that in mind, Miami Heat president of basketball operations Pat Riley has voiced that the team will give Wade as much time as he needs to make a decision, according to the Associated Press.
“I think it’s best that we give him some more time,” Riley said.
Riley understands the magnitude of the decision as Wade is seriously contemplating retiring at this stage of his career. He has shown he can still be a highly impactful player on the court, but it’s just a matter if he has the passion for continuing playing after 15 seasons.
If Wade were to return, the assumption is that he will make it only with the Heat as he came back last year after nearly two years away from the franchise that he spent the first 13 years of his career. Regardless of what he plans to do, he will finish his playing days with Miami where he established himself as one of the best players to play in the NBA.
Wade has put together a sure-fire Hall of Fame career that saw him win three NBA titles, one NBA Finals MVP award, 12 All-Star Game nods, a pair of All-NBA First Team selections, three All-NBA Second Team nods, three All-NBA Third Team selections, and three NBA All-Defensive Second Team nods.
