Rich Paul Details LeBron James’ Emotional Path to Joining 76ers
At long last, star forward LeBron James has chosen his next NBA destination after announcing his decision to join the Philadelphia 76ers to play his historic 24th season.
The move came after a long, drawn-out process that featured James picking from a handful of landing spots with the 76ers, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
His longtime agent, Rich Paul, said on the latest episode of the “Game Over” podcast that it was difficult for James to make a decision.
“You can see from the end of the season … the emotional attachments and how hard it is to go away from a Miami and go away from a Cleveland,” Paul said via ESPN. “Who wouldn’t want to play with Steph Curry and Draymond Green. I’m seeing the emotional roller coaster every single day.
“… Home is home [in Cleveland]. Miami is Miami. It’s Pat [Riley]. … I think that everyone was at some point leading the race.”
The 41-year-old had his choice of viable options, but deemed the 76ers as his best chance to win a fifth NBA title. He joins an even more loaded roster led by their talented starting five of James, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown, and V.J. Edgecombe.
