Rich Paul Makes LeBron James’ Priorities Clear Amid Free Agency Buzz

With LeBron James going through free agency for the first time in nearly a decade, the four-time NBA champion is taking in the whole process.

James is set to leave the Los Angeles Lakers after eight seasons with his eyes on extending his career elsewhere, but that decision is one that he is in no rush to make. His agent, Rich Paul, on a recent episode of his “Game Over” podcast with Max Kellerman, used a whiteboard and pointer to outline the options his client has in front of him.

It’s an entire layout that has seen Paul tell ESPN he has spoken to 27 teams about James, which underscores that it’s a fluid matter regarding his desires for his next team.

“Every day things change,” Paul told ESPN. “This is the first time that LeBron James is making a decision pressure-free. He’s won already. He’s made good on his promise — he won in L.A. This is strictly for his happiness. What does happiness entail? It’s a number of things. It’s a bucket of happiness. It’s basketball, it’s living, it’s camaraderie, it’s competition. It’s everything.”

There are numerous teams that headline the opportunity to snag James’ services, such as the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, as well as the Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers, despite their recent major trade acquisitions of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jaylen Brown, respectively.
