Rockets’ James Harden claims it’ll be ‘easy’ for Carmelo Anthony to fit

The Houston Rockets have brought another high-profile player to the mix for the second offseason with the addition of former All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony.

There have been questions about whether Anthony will be able to blend in the mix smoothly given his playing style of needing the ball in his hands to be an effective player. During a recent interview with the Players’ Tribune, reigning league MVP James Harden has voiced no concern about Anthony fitting into the fold, via ESPN.

“Coming off an MVP season, now you got to add Carmelo Anthony, it’s going to be easy,” Harden said in an interview posted Thursday on The Players’ Tribune. “The transition is easy. When you got that many talented, high-IQ guys around who love to communicate and love to figure things out, the job is easy.”

Harden’s confidence from the situation stems from him being able to play effectively alongside Chris Paul this past season that led to the team being just a win away from reaching the NBA Finals. The two have become a dynamic duo in the backcourt that helped make the Rocket an even more potent offensive force.

The addition of Harden does bring up questions as Anthony has a strong reputation as being difficult to play alongside due to his playing style. He has spent much of his career being a ball-dominant player that excels most with the ball in his hands.

Ultimately, one time will tell if Anthony will be able to blend into the fray as the missing piece that could help the Rockets take the next step forward as a legitimate title contender in the 2018-19 campaign.
