The Houston Rockets were able to overcome a resilient Los Angeles Lakers squad on Sunday night. They sealed the win with a thrilling double-overtime victory. Unfortunately, the team suffered a major blow with superstar guard James Harden going down with an injury.

According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, Harden has a hamstring injury which will cost him at least two weeks.

Houston Rockets star guard James Harden will be sidelined at least two weeks. He has to a Grade 2 hamstring strain, the team announced Monday night.

The Rockets will lose their face of the franchise for the next two weeks at a minimum. Although the team still has fellow star Chris Paul to run the show for Houston moving forward. Paul has dealt with his fair share of injury problems this season, but might be able to shoulder the load until the return of the MVP candidate.

NBA Title

Harden is currently averaging a league-best 32.3 points per game to go along with 9.1 assists and 5.0 rebounds. The perennial All-Star is shooting an impressive 45.1 percent from the floor and 39 percent (tied for a career high) from beyond the arc.

At this point in the 2017-18 NBA season, the Rockets are considered to be a serious force to be reckoned with and a potential title contender. Houston’s odds to win it all sit only behind the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors.
