Rockets sign Ime Udoka to long-term extension
The Houston Rockets are a team on the rise in the Western Conference, and one of the main reasons for the franchise’s recent success can be directly linked to head coach Ime Udoka.
After an ugly divorce with the Boston Celtics following a trip to the NBA Finals, Udoka was able to rebound quickly by landing with the Rockets. It turned out to be a brilliant move for both sides, as he immediately changed the culture in Houston, resulting in the Rockets becoming a legitimate title contender.
Recently, the New York Knicks requested to speak to Udoka about their coaching vacancy after they parted ways with Tom Thibodeau. The Rockets denied the request and felt the need to secure his long-term future with the team. According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Rockets have agreed to a long-term deal with Udoka.
Houston Rockets coach Ime Udoka has agreed to a long-term contract extension that makes him one of the highest-paid coaches in the NBA, sources told ESPN on Thursday.
The deal is believed to be worth eight figures annually, sources said.
This seems like a smart move by Houston, as they have found a great leader on the sidelines who has already cemented himself as one of the best head coaches in the league.

With Udoka’s future in Houston now secure, the team has a lot of work to do during this NBA offseason to put together a roster that can continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the West.
