Rockets Trading James Harden for Ben Simmons ‘Not Happening’

The Houston Rockets are going through a drastic change with longtime general manager Daryl Morey leaving the team. Morey has joined forces with Doc Rivers on the Philadelphia 76ers.

With Morey heading to Philadelphia, the trade rumors have been swirling about superstar James Harden. Reports suggest he could head to the 76ers in a blockbuster trade for Ben Simmons. However, that trade rumor has been denied vehemently, via Real GM.

“I’ve already been told with a few expletives included by somebody with the Rockets: ‘No, Daryl, James Harden for Ben Simmons is not happening. Don’t ask,’ said Tim MacMahon on the Brian Windhorst podcast.

“It’s not up to the Rockets, is it?” replied Windhorst, referring to the possibility of Harden asking for a trade at some point.

“The answer is no on that,” added MacMahon on whether Houston would trade Harden for Simmons.

As for the 76ers, there’s been a lot of talk about whether the team will break up the dynamic All-Star duo of Simmons and Joel Embiid. This All-Star combo hasn’t lived up to expectations. Many believe now might the right time to break them up and see what Philadelphia can get in return.

It’ll be interesting to see what direction both of these franchises take after falling short repeatedly in the playoffs over the last few years. The Rockets will have to figure out what to do about Russell Westbrook and his giant contract while Morey has some work to do with a team that could need an overhaul.
