Spurs Lakers Game Two Tonight

Two of the three Southwest Division teams in the NBA Playoffs will be in action tonight. One will looking to go up 2-0 in the series as the San Antonio Spurs host the Los Angeles Lakers in Game Two, and the other will be hoping to avoid a 2-0 hole as the Houston Rockets will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Coming into the series, many felt like the Lakers had a great shot to beat the Spurs and that the Rockets had let a great opportunity slip by when they lost the seventh seed in overtime to the Lakers on the regular season’s final night. But the Spurs looked good in their Game One win over the Lakers despite coming into the game on a three game losing streak. Their “Big Three” of Tony Parker, Manu Ginobli and Tim Duncan all scored at least 17 points and played significant minutes. The Spurs bench, led by Ginobli, out-scored the Lakers bench 40-10 in Game One.

The Rockets might still believe they would have been better off not having to face the Thunder though as they were routed in Game One. The Thunder was led by Kevin Durant with 24 points as four players scored at least 16, including Kevin Martin who was the main player traded to the Thunder in the James Harden trade early in the season. Harden had 20 points but was a terrible 6 of 19 from the floor in the the Game one rout 120-91.

The Rockets were out-scored in all four quarters as they could not get much going on in the contest. They will need to improve greatly in tonight’s game to avoid going down 0-2.
