Suns guard Chris Paul ‘plans’ to play Game 3 vs. Clippers

The Phoenix Suns have grabbed a commanding 2-0 series lead over the LA Clippers in the Western Conference Finals.

The Suns accomplished that without the services of star point guard Chris Paul. He was ruled out of the game due to health and safety protocol concerns. However, Phoenix will have Paul back in the mix for Game 3 on Thursday night as he was medically cleared to return, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Barring an unforeseen setback, Phoenix Suns star Chris Paul plans to make his return to postseason action for Game 3 on Thursday of the Western Conference Finals against the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Paul has remained in Los Angeles during his brief absence, which likely makes his return a more straightforward process. His presence will provide a significant boost as he’s been a massive reason for the franchise’s turnaround this season.

Paul helped transform the Suns into a legitimate NBA title contender. Phoenix has managed to continue to chug forward without the 36-year-old as they inched by the Clippers to move two wins away from reaching the NBA Finals.

Devin Booker and Cam Payne have each stepped up to fill Paul’s massive void to inch the franchise closer to NBA title contention. His return could provide more separation against LA, who is playing without star forward Kawhi Leonard.

Leonard has missed the last three games due to a knee issue related to his ACL. He has already been ruled out for Thursday’s contest.

Beyond that, the Suns have an opportunity ahead to push the Clippers to the brink of playoff elimination.
