Warriors’ Draymond Green Has Sights Set On Winning Defensive Player Of The Year
The Golden State Warriors are starting to figure things out after hitting a few bumps in the road early on with their revamped roster. Superstar Kevin Durant is coming into his own while Klay Thompson and Draymond Green do the same.
As the Warriors gear up for another impressive run, Green has made one of his goals abundantly clear. The one-time NBA champion wants to win the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year award, as he told ESPN’s Chris Haynes:
“That’s something that I want to win,†Green told ESPN in an exclusive interview this week. “And if there’s anything I’ve ever been selfish about, it’s that award. Like, I want that award.â€
Green is widely regarded to be one of the best all-around players in the NBA today. The Michigan State product has improved with every passing season while helping turn the Warriors into a perennial title contender in the Western Conference.
Although Green will have to fend off some of the league’s elite defenders like Kawhi Leonard of the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat’s Hassan Whiteside, the veteran forward seems up for the task. This new-found focus of Green’s will definitely benefit the team as they attempt to bounce back following the devastating NBA Finals loss to LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers.
As of Friday, the Warriors are 9-2 having won five straight games. Golden State will look to make it six wins in a row on Friday night on the road against the Boston Celtics at TD Garden.
