Warriors expect Stephen Curry to return during road trip

With the Golden State Warriors moving toward securing a playoff spot, star point guard Stephen Curry is nearing his return.

Golden State expects the two-time MVP to make his long-awaited return during next week’s three-game road trip. Curry has been off the floor since Feb. 4 when he suffered partial tears to his superior tibiofibular ligaments and interosseous membrane as well as a contusion to his left leg and knee.

Golden State has proceeded with much caution with Curry due to the sensitivity of his injuries. He will play a crucial part in helping push the team toward contending for a second straight NBA title.

The upcoming three-game road trip starts with playing the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday then the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday and concludes with facing the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday.

Curry has had smooth progress in his recovery from his injuries. Although, he will likely require a minute’s restriction as he gets his body reacclimatised to a significant workload. When healthy, he is the focal point of the offensive game plan.

The Warriors are sitting in the fifth spot in the Western Conference standings at a 32-30 record.

However, Golden State isn’t secure in avoiding the play-in tournament as the team is only a half-game ahead of the seventh-seeded Dallas Mavericks and 2.5 games ahead of the 11th-seeded Lakers.

All that places significant importance on how the Warriors finish out the regular season, which has roughly five more weeks before the playoffs begin.
