Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry has etched himself in NBA history in yet another way as he’s set to become the first active player to be honored with an exhibit in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
It’s a feat that has left Curry speechless, as the league is cementing his legacy further.
“Being part of the Basketball Hall of Fame in this way is hard to put into words,” Curry said in a release Tuesday via ESPN. “When I think about my journey, I think about the people who believed in me, the work that happened when nobody was watching and the moments that shaped me on and off the court. To have that story told while I’m still playing is something I don’t take lightly.”
The exhibit, “Stephen Curry: Beyond the Arc,” will officially open on Friday. This will feature memorabilia from the Olympics and championships, as well as game-worn gear, paired with footage that highlights his basketball journey.
Through his first 17 seasons, Curry has firmly cemented himself as one of the game’s greatest players and earned the reputation as the best shooter in NBA history. His impact on basketball goes well beyond his championship success and personal accolades, as it transformed the league through the 3-point shot.
