Zach LaVine Saves Bulls VS Magic

The Chicago Bulls beat the Orlando Magic thanks to a late Zach LaVine dunk on Monday night.

The Bulls won 105 – 101 after losing a fourth-quarter 18 point lead. Zach LaVine stole an inbounds pass from Jonathon Simmons and broke for the dunk with 15 seconds left. Afterwards, he added two free throws to seal the game for Chicago.

LaVine scored 18 points on the night, as well as making 7 rebounds. The Bulls were led by Lauri Markkanen with 21 points.  Bobby Portis finished with 19 points and seven rebounds, and Jerian Grant had 14 points and seven assists.

Mario Hezonja led the Magic with 24 points. Evan Fournier finished the game with 22 points for Orlando.

After losing 7 straight games, this was the Chicago Bulls second win in three.

Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg described LaVine’s interception as a “great read”.

“We knew they were going to try to just get it in,” said LaVine. “You know, I pushed up on him. I just tried to make it tough. Justin Holiday made a good play to like shade the ball to my right, and I bumped into Shelvin Mack, made the dude pass it, obviously, to the left. I came in and made an aggressive play on the ball.”

After returning from an ACL injury, Zach LaVine has been crucial for the Chicago Bull of late. The player says he embraces the responsibility late in games:

“You have to get it done. Everybody wants to have the ball in their hands at the end of the game. You have to have the confidence and ability to do it, and I think I do.

“You got to be sharper, you got to understand, you know, there’s probably not going to be a lot of fouls called. You’ve got to be aggressive. You got to make a play, some way, some form, if it’s a shot or it’s a defensive effort, a rebound, a steal. We did that tonight.”
