Big 12 Hoops at a Glance: Jayhawks Host Buffs

The Kansas Jayhawks are ranked #9 in the AP Top 25 poll. Today they host the Colorado Buffaloes in Allen Field House. It is a ace the Buffs know well, but have not done well in the past. They are 1-31 in that building. This game starts a tough stretch for Kansas leading up to Big 12 play. Colorado is 7-1 this season. After the Buffs, Kansas has the Belmont Bruins, Richmond Spiders, the #7 Ohio State Buckeyes and Templ Owls on the schedule before conference play begins.  Those four teams have lost a combined total of five games.

Colorado is one of the favorites in the Pac 12. One of their wins was against the tough Baylor Bears. They have four players averaging in double figures led by Spencer Dinwiddie who averages nearly 18 points per game. Askia Booker averages 14 points per game while John Scott and Andre Roberson average 12 per game. Roberson is the leading rebounder at nearly 12 per game.

Ben McLemore leads Kansas at nearly 15 points per game as does Jeff Withey. Withey is also the leading rebounder at 8 per game. Travis Releford averages 13 points per game and Eljah Johnson averages 10.

Colorado at Kansas– Colorado is +11 -110 or +500. Kansas is +11 -110 or -700. Over/under is 140. Colorado +500 to pull the upset might be a risk worth taking.  But we’ll take the Buffs + 11 points.

Kansas State at George Washington– Kansas State is -8 -110 or -400. GW is +8 -110 or +320. Over/under is 129. We like GW +8 at home.

Virginia Tech at West Virginia- Va Tech is +6 -110 or +220. West Virginia is -6 -110 or -260. Over/under is 140. We are going to go with Virginia Tech+6.

SW Missouri State at Oklahoma State– Oklahoma State is the only other Big 12 team ranked in the Top 25. SW Missouri is +19 -110. Oklahoma State is -19 -110. We’ll take Okie State -19.

UCLA at Texas- UCLA is -6.5 -110 or -280. Texas is +6.5 -110 or +240. Over/under is 131.5.  UCLA is underachieving but Texas is just not very good. We’ll take UCLA -6.5.
