SEC Betting Odds and Picks for Wednesday: Gamecocks Visit Gators

The O'Dome will be rocking on Wednesday

The O’Dome will be rocking on Wednesday

The SEC is finally into playing conference games now that football is over. Tonight there are several games on the slate including the South Carolina Gamecocks at the Florida Gators. South Carolina comes in at 7-6 and on a four game win streak while the Gators check in at 11-2 . Florida is thinking about SEC Championships and cutting down some nets in the post season tournaments. They were in the SEC Tournament Championship Game and the Elite Eight a season ago, but lost both. In their last five “net cutting” games since winning the 2007 NCAA Tournament, they are 0-5 including the last three Elite Eights. If the Gators are to cut down nets this season, point guard play must get better.

Scottie Wilbekin and Casey Hill have got to start shooting less and dishing more. In their last game against the Richmond Spiders, they had more turnovers than assists. Not surprisingly, the game was close most of the way. If these guys move the ball, then Florida has potential to blow the Gamecocks out. If not, then this one could be very close.

In other SEC action on Wednesday, the Mississippi State Bulldogs will visit the Kentucky Wildcats. Despite some early struggles away from home, these Wildcats are really talented, really tall, and really tough at home, as the defending national champion Louisville Cardinals found out. Mississippi State is in year two of their rebuilding project. Progress is being made as the Dogs have win over the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles and the USF Bulls. But the Wildcats are by far the best team they will have played. That’s not good news for a team who’s lost to the TCU Horned Frogs and the Utah State Aggies.

Kentucky has an identical 10-3 record as the Bulldogs, but they lost in single digits to the Michigan State Spartans, North Carolina Tar Heels and Baylor Bears. They also beat the Cardinals and some other tough opponents such as the Belmont Bruins and Boise State Broncos.

Carbon Sports has the odds on tonight’s SEC action:

South Carolina at Florida– South Carolina is +16.5 -110 and the Gators are -16.5 -110 ATS. We like the Gamecocks +16.5. The Gators don’t beat too many teams by this much unless it’s Savannah State or Jacksonville. South Carolina is better than that.

Georgia at Missouri– UGA is +11.5 -110 and the Tigers are -11.5 -110 ATS. Moneyline is the Bulldogs +600 and the Tigers -850. We like the Tigers -11.5 and of course -850. At home the Tigers are too much for the Dawgs.

Miss State at Kentucky– Miss State is +19.5 -110 and UK is -19.5 -110 ATS. We like the Kats to cover. This should be a blow out. UK -19.5 -110.

Arkansas at Texas A&M– Arkansas is -2.5 -110 and the Aggies are +2.5 -110 ATS. Moneyline is Arkansas -145 and A&M +125. The Hogs will have to prove to us they can win SEC road games before we start betting on them. Aggies +125. Also take Aggies +2.5 -110.
