SEC-Big East Challenge Results and Odds

On the opening night of the SEC-Big East Challenge the two conferences split the four games. On Friday night there will be four more and on Saturday the last four of the 12-game challenge will be played.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish beat the #8 Kentucky Wildcats rather handily on their home floor 64-50 as the Notre Dame students rushed the court afterwards. Eric Atkins led the Irish with 16 points as Kentucky fell for the second time on the young season, which is as many losses as they had all of last season while winning the national championship.

The Big East went up 2-0 when the St. John’s Red Storm pounded the South Carolina Gamecocks at home 89-65. De’Angelo Harrison led the Red Storm with 26 points while Amir Garrett added 15. South Carolina suffered a scary injury when Brenton Williams was carried off the floor on a stretcher with about 13:00 to play. He was later released for the hospital and allowed to go home with the team.

In the late games, hosted by the SEC schools, the #7 Florida Gators hammered the Marquette Golden Eagles 82-49. Six Gators finished in double figures. One of them was freshman Michael Frazier II who was 5-8 from three point territory and finished with 17 points in 22 minutes. The Gators are now 6-0 on the season.

In the final game, the LSU Tigers used a full court press to force 17 Seton Hall Pirates turnovers in the second half as they rallied from 16 points down to win 72-67 and make it a perfect night for the home teams in the Challenge.

Today, TopBet has your betting lines for games 5-8 to be played this evening:

Tennessee Volunteers at Georgetown Hoyas- Tennessee is +6.5 -110 or +240. Georgetown is -6.5 -110 or -280. Over/under is 124. We like Georgetown -6.5 and the under. Georgetown played the SEC’s best team, the Florida Gators, tough for a half before the second half of their games on an aircraft carrier had to be cancelled. That’s the toughest anyone has played them so far. So the Hoyas should be able to handle UT.

Georgia Bulldogs at South Florida Bulls– Georgia is +3.5 -110 or +145. South Florida is -3.5 -110 or -165. Over/under is 113. We like the Bulldogs in this one straight up and the over. USF has not been too impressive so far and the Dogs played the #1 Indiana Hoosiers tough.

Syracuse Orange at Arkansas Razorbacks- Syracuse is -7 -110 or -300. Arkansas is +7 -110 or +250. Over/under is 149. We like the Hogs +7 and the over. Bud Walton Arena will be a madhouse tonight and will keep Arkansas in the game. We like the Orange to win so if you pick them straight up, we won’t argue. But we like the Hogs to stay close.

DePaul Blue Demons at Auburn Tigers- DePaul is -1 -110. Auburn is +1 -110. Over/under is 140.5. We will go with Auburn -1 at home and the under.
