Big 12 Bowl Previews

On Saturday there are five college football bowl games. Three of them feature teams from the Big 12. After watching the Texas Tech Red Raiders get a thrilling win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Friday night in Houston’s Meineke Car Care Bowl, Big 12 fans go into Saturday’s games feeling good about their conference so far. Tech’s win comes the night after the Baylor Bears steamrolled the UCLA Bruins in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego.

The Big 12 has seven bowl games left to play. Besides the three games on Saturday which includes the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium between the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Syracuse Orange, the Alamo Bowl between the Texas Longhorns and the Oregon State Beavers and the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl between the TCU Horned Frogs and the Michigan State Spartans, the Big 12 will also have the Iowa State Cyclones facing the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Monday in the Liberty Bowl, the Heart of Dallas Bowl will pit the Oklahoma State Cowboys against the Purdue Boilermakers on New Year’s Day, The Fiesta Bowl on January 3rd between the Pac 12 champion Oregon Ducks and the Big 12 champion Kansas State Wildcats and the Cotton Bowl on January 4th when the Oklahoma Sooners face the Texas A&M Aggies.

TopBet has odds on tomorrow’s Big 12 bowl action:

West Virginia vs Syracuse- West Virginia is -3.5 -110 or -165. Syracuse is +3.5 -110 or +145. Over/under is 71.5. This will be quarterback Geno Smith‘s last college game and his last audition for the NFL in a live football game. Look for an offensive explosion in this one. The Mountaineers will have too much offense for the Orange. We like WVU -3.5 and the over.

Texas vs Oregon State- The Longhorns have some off-field issues to deal with before this bowl. Quarterback Case McCoy has been sent home along with linebacker Jordan Hicks. There are rumors of a sexual assault. This does not bode well for the Longhorns. The Beavers are a very tough team as well they’ve beaten five bowl teams out of the eight they’ve played so far. The Beavers are -3 -120 or -165. The Longhorns are +3 even or +145. Over/under is 57.5. We like Oregon State -3 and the under in this one.

TCU vs Michigan State- TCU is -2 -110 or -135. Michigan State is +2 -110 or +115.  Over/under is 40. We are going to go with TCU and the over in this one. We don’t really have a compelling reason other than a gut feeling on this one.

On Monday we have

Iowa State vs Tulsa- Iowa State is -1 -110. Tulsa is +1 -110. Over/under is 50.5. We are going with Tulsa +1 and the under.

On Tuesday

Oklahoma State vs Purdue- Purdue is +17 -110. Oklahoma State is -17 -110. Over/under is 70. We are going to go with Purdue +17. The Boilermakers had Ohio State on the ropes, so they are capable of making a game of this. 17.5 is a lot of points. We will also take the under.
