Florida at LSU Headlines Big SEC Saturday

lsuatflorida2-wrThe Florida Gators will travel to Baton Rouge to take on the LSU Tigers in SEC action on Saturday. The Gators come in with a 3-0 SEC record and 4-1 overall while the Tigers are 2-1 in the SEC and 5-1 overall. They lost a tough game to the Georgia Bulldogs on the road for their only loss, while the Gators also lost a tough road game at the Miami Hurricanes earlier in the year.

The Gators were embarrassed the last time they visited LSU two years ago 41-11. Coach Will Muschamp has been reminding his players about that all week leading up to this one. Les Miles is reminding his team of the 13-3 loss the Gators put on his team a season ago.

Florida leads the all-time series with LSU 31-25-3. UF is one of the few teams that has had a lot of success at Tiger Stadium over the years. They have won 11 of the last 16 trips to Death Valley.

This game will be a study of the “irresistible force vs the immovable object.” The Gators have a stingy defense that has been allowing opponents to one touchdown per game in SEC play. The Tennessee Volunteers scored 17 on the Gators, but one of those was an interception return. The Kentucky Wildcats managed seven points (scored on a fake field goal) and Arkansas scored 10.

LSU has been putting points up on the rest of the conference behind quarterback Zach Mettenberger. They scored 59 points last week against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 41 in the loss to the Bulldogs and 35 on the Auburn Tigers.

Bovada has the odds on this and other SEC games:

Florida at LSU– Florida is +7 in this one. Giving the Gators seven points with that defense is awfully tempting. We like the Gators +7.

Missouri at Georgia– This is another huge game in the SEC. Mizzou is 5-0 and is coming off a pretty sound thumping of the Vanderbilt Commodores last week. Georgia barely escaped the lowly Tennessee Volunteers last week. Bovada has Missouri +8 in this one. Again, we like the points. We will take Mizzou +8.

Texas A&M at Ole Miss– The Aggies are catching the Rebels reeling after they were embroiled in controversy a week ago. Ole Miss may be having trouble concentrating on football and have now lost two straight games. The Rebels are +6.5 in this one. We are going to lay the points this time and take Texas A&M -6.5.

South Carolina at Arkansas– The Gamecocks are -6.5 -105 and the Hogs are +6.5 -115. We like South Carolina -6.5 in this one. USC has been struggling to blow teams out as of late though.

Alabama at KentuckyBama is -27 -115 and the Wildcats are +27- 105 ATS. That is a lot of points in an SEC game. But it won’t be enough in this case. We like Alabama -27.
