NCAA East Football Lines for Opening Night

South Carolina opens at home against North Carolina

It is finally that time of the year again people. It is time for college football betting picks! I don’t know about the rest of you but I live for college football season. I love the tailgating, the band, the cheerleaders, the rowdy students and especially the games themselves. I love the rivalries and the trash-talking. I really love that hint of fall in the air the smell of bar-b-q grills all over the campus. Saturdays in the fall…there is nothing better. The only possible exception would be Thursday night on opening weekend. For those of us who just cannot wait until Saturday, next Thursday has a busy opening night schedule

BetOnline has odds up already for Thursday August 29th. Here are some of the games of interest on the East coast:

North Carolina Tar Heels at South Carolina Gamecocks– UNC is +11 -11- and the Gamecocks are +11 -110 ATS. Over/Under is 56.5 with both at -110. Typically South Carolina struggles to score points in their season openers. Look for a low scoring game here. Take the Heels +11 and the under.

Akron Zips at Central Florida Knights– Akron is +21.5 -110 while UCF is -21.5 -110 ATS. Over/Under is 57 with both -110. Last season, UCF beat Akron by a lot more than 21 on opening night. Coach Terry Bowden will try to have his Zips better prepared this year. But we like the Knights -21.5 and the over.

Ole Miss Rebels at Vanderbilt Commodores– This is the game of the night. There two typically play a tight game against one another. Ole Miss is -3 -110 and Vandy is +3 -110 ATS. Over/Under is 53.5 with both -110. Ole Miss hauled quite a recruiting class last year and Vandy has had off-field issues. But Vandy usually figures out a way to beat the Rebels so we will take the Commodores +3 and the under.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Fresno State Bulldogs– Okay, this game is being played in California, but it does have the State University of New Jersey involved. Fresno State has one of this years top NFL quarterback prospects in Derek Carr. Rutgers has been turning out NFL players all over the place lately. This game should be entertaining. Rutgers is +10 -110 and Fresno State is -10 -110 ATS. Over/Under is 54. We like Rutgers +10 and the over in this one.

Florida Atlantic Owls at Miami Hurricanes– Okay, this one is one Friday night, but what the heck. FAU is +33 -110 and the Canes are -33 -110. Over/Under is 56. It’s hard to pass up 33 points. It’s really tough when you have a local rivalry with a 33 point spread. But I think I will do it. Take the Canes -33 and the over.
