SEC Championship Game: Bet on the Tigers
How much money would you have mead had you picked the Missouri Tigers and Auburn Tigers to meet in the SEC Championship game at the end of the season? It has to be quite a lot. You see, Missouri and Auburn came in dead last in the SEC standings a year ago. Anyone want to bet on next year’s game being between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Arkansas Razorbacks? Because that is what it will be if the same thing happens again next season.
This could be called the “Tiger Bowl” for obvious reasons, both teams are called Tigers. But what it really should be called is the “Worst to First Bowl.” And if the Michigan State Spartans can beat the Ohio State Buckeyes, which many people feel will happen, this could be a semi-final game for the National Championship. It also could happen if the Duke Blue Devils beat the Florida State Seminoles, but that is not likely to happen.
Missouri has not been getting much respect all season, but all they do is win football games. In fact, had they not choked away a 17-point fourth quarter lead and then view a first and goal from the eight in overtime against the South Carolina Gamecocks, they might not even need the Spartans help. The SEC East was not particularly strong this year but the Tigers beat two SEC West toughies the last two weeks in the Ole Miss Rebels and Texas A&M Aggies, so they didn’t exactly back in here.
Auburn had only a night time road loss at the LSU Tigers. Everyone knows how tough night games at Death Valley are on the visitors. They have had two miracle finishes in their last two games against the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide. Anyone who saw the way those two ended may be thinking the Auburn Tigers are just a team with destiny on their side. And it would be tough to argue that.
Nick Marshall leads Auburn into this game. He is mostly a running quarterback but in the last two games he made some huge throws late in the game. Auburn may have a tough time running on Mizzou. Their defensive front line is very good.
Mizzou quarterback James Franklin can get it going and when he does, he is tough to stop. He is mostly a passer, but he will on occasion get it done with his legs. .
Sports Betting has Missouri +1.5 -110 and Auburn -1.5 -110 ATS. Moneyline is Missouri +105 and Auburn -125. Over/Under is 58 with over and under -110.
This is a tough one. Both teams seem to be a team of destiny. We are going to pick Missouri +105 though. Auburn cannot keep getting this lucky. We are also going to go with the under -110. For Missouri to win, they will have to play some tough defense.
