SEC Odds and Picks: Hogs Invade the Swamp

floridatoledo-wrHogs in a Swamp? Anyone who has ever been to Gainesville knows there is nothing unusual about hogs in a swamp. Why, they feel right at home there. How at home will the Arkansas Razorbacks feel when they come to the Swamp to face the Florida Gators on Saturday? Not very.

Arkansas has not beaten the Gators since joining the SEC in 1992. In fact, the only win for the Hogs in the all-time series came in 1982 at the Bluebonnet Bowl 28-24. As a member of the SEC, the Hogs are 0-8 against the Gators including two losses at the SEC Championship Game.

This year’s game will be a match-up between contradicting styles of play. The Gators are a defense oriented teams who likes to eat clock and shorten the game with a lot of running plays. The Hogs are not much on defense but they can put the ball in the air. The Gators have won two in a row, beating the Tennessee Volunteers 31-17 and the Kentucky Wildcats 24-7, while the Razorbacks have lost the last two 28-24 to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and 45-33 to the Texas A&M Aggies.

Oddsmaker has odds on this and the other SEC games:

Arkansas at Florida– The Hogs are +11.5 -110 and the Gators are -11.5 -110 ATS. Moneyline is Arkansas +360 and Florida -460. Over/Under is 43 with both -110. Florida seems to purposely keep games close so putting them in an 11.5 point hole is huge. We are going to go with Arkansas +11.5 but take Florida -460. We also like the under -110.

LSU at Mississippi State– LSU is coming off a tough last week. Mississippi State knows the feeling well. LSU is -10-110 and the Bulldogs are +10 -110 ATS. Moneyline has LSU -380 and MSU +310. Over/Under is 55 with both -110. In this one we think the Tigers have too much offense for the Dogs. We like LSU -10 and the over -110.

Georgia at Tennessee– This should be really ugly. UT barely beat South Alabama a week ago. Of course, they may have just been looking ahead to this week. UGA won a huge game over LSU last week so they have to guard against the dreaded “L” word, letdown. UGA is -11 -110 and the Vols are +11 -110 ATS. Moneyline is Georgia -420 and Tennessee +330. Over/Under is 64.5 with both -110. We like Georgia to cover the spread in this game. In fact, we are surprised the spread is not bigger. UGA -11 and the over -110.

Georgia State at Alabama– We can’t even believe there is a line on this game. Georgia State is +55 -110 and Alabama is -55 -110 ATS. O/U is 58.5 with both -110. Bet on this one at your own risk. Bama can name the score. Will they run it up? That’s anyone’s guess.
