Nevada Sportsbooks Can Accept NFL Draft Wagers

For the first time, sportsbooks in Nevada will be permitted to accept wagers on the NFL Draft. They still won’t be able to offer as many different wagers as online sportsbooks. Yet it is a step in the right direction. For years Nevada only allowed wagers that were determined on the field, but that is changing.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board granted a request by William Hill LLC to accept the bets. William Hill runs more than 100 sportsbooks in the state.

Bettors won’t be able to wager on which player is taken first in Nevada. Your favorite online sportsbook will likely let you make that bet. But bettors in Nevada will be able to wager on things like the total numbers of players taken from one school, whether more offensive or defensive players in a particular round.

The Gaming Control Board supplied sportsbooks a list of 17 allowed proposition bets. Anything that is different in nature would need additional approval of the GCB.

The list includes:

  •  The number of players drafted from a particular college in the first round.
  •  The number of players drafted from a particular college in the entire draft.
  • More players drafted from conference X than conference Y in the first round.
  • More players drafted from conference X than conference Y in the entire draft.
  • More players drafted from college X than college Y in the first round.
  • More players drafted from college X than college Y in the entire draft.
  • Over-under of the draft position for the first kicker taken.
  • Total number of quarterbacks drafted in the first round.
  • Over/Under on the number of quarterbacks drafted in the first round.
  • Over/Under on the number of running backs drafted in the first round.
  • Over/Under on the number of wide receivers drafted in the first round.
  • Over/Under on the number of players from conference X drafted in the first round.

The Gaming Control Board has allowed more of these types of wagers in recent years, including the Heisman winner, Cy Young Award winner, and more.

The draft will take place April 27 to April 29 in Philadelphia. All NFL Draft wagers have to be made by April 26 in Nevada.
