New England Patriots Could Be In Trouble For Illegal Sideline Filming

The New England Patriots await a league verdict after the franchise admitted to violating NFL policy on Sunday.

The New England Patriots are in hot water after a team video crew shot footage of the Bengals sideline during their match at the Cleveland Browns.

A New England Patriots statement was released on Monday night, as the NFL was reviewing the video.

According to several team officials, the video crew were shooting a documentary about a team scout.

Ominously, the league declined to comment on the incident on Monday night.

“We understand and acknowledge that our video crew, which included independent contractors who shot the video, unknowingly violated a league policy by filming the field and sideline from the press box,” the Patriots statement said.

The documentary being filmed is part of the “Do Your Job”, an online series depicting the lives of Patriots staff. According to New England, the video crew was credentialed by the Cleveland Browns.

“The production crew is independent of our football operation,” the Patriots said.

“While aware that one of the scouts was being profiled for a ‘Do Your Job’ episode, our football staff had no other involvement whatsoever in the planning, filming or creative decisions made during the production of these features. We accept full responsibility for the actions of our production crew at the Browns-Bengals game.”

“I heard about this,” said Patriots coach Bill Belechick.

“and evidently this is our production people on the TV show that were there and … we have absolutely nothing to do with anything that they produce or direct or shoot. I have never even seen any of their tapes or anything else. This is something that we 100 percent have zero involvement with.”
