New York Jets Players Rallying Around Aaron Rodgers

Media hype around the New York Jets has turned into genuine excitement following the start of training camp on Thursday.

That’s because the players are getting their first chance to see new quarterback Aaron Rodgers up close.

The Jets have finished bottom of the AFC East three years consecutively, and six times in the last seven years. It’s been twelve seasons since New York reached the postseason and 50 since they won a championship.

With the addition of Rodgers, the New York Jets players are now talking about winning the Super Bowl.

“Yeah, I ain’t gonna fake it, we want to win the Super Bowl,” WR Garrett Wilson said.

“It’s OK to talk about it. If you want to go get that s—, do it.”

“We have a big name in Aaron Rodgers,” New York Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley said.

“And from his first day, you can kind of feel the screws and bolts tightened up with the name and weight he carries. Everyone is excited top to bottom. We all have the same mindset and excitement. We did a good job in the offseason getting ready. Now’s the time to go to work and put it together.”

“We’ve got Aaron Rodgers and we’ve got our main guys back, so for me, it’s probably the most excited I’ve been,” corner D.J. Reed said. “He’s a first-ballot Hall of Famer, and playing against him [in OTAs] you’ve got to be on your P’s and Q’s. He throws on a dot, especially those deep balls. That workout on the sand dunes … it was intense.

“We want everyone to jump on the wagon now,” Rodgers told reporters on Thursday. “… High expectations are a good thing.”

“We’re just building this thing right now,” Rodgers said, “and I want to build it the right way.”
